I bought the new K&N 3910 filter assembly.really love it.had a big sucker on it ,changed to the k&n.it has a velocity stack in the install.really nice piece.....what was wierd was i got it at Autozone for $124.00.all the bike places on the net or walk ins wanted 180 -240........go figure
I have found a few things at Auto Zone like oils and light bulbs for my bike. Different part numbers and packaging but identical otherwise and a whole lot cheaper!
The light bulb went on when I read this post.
It just never occurred to me to look at an auto parts store.
I am probably going to switch to Mobil1 and start changing my own fluids. Seems like I read a post about a Mobil1 filer. Do you know if Autozone carries this, if there even is one?
How critical is it to change the o rings on the drain plugs? I understand that they can wear and cause a leak, but do you have to change them every time?

I buy Mobil1 V-Twin oil at Auto-Zone but I have never seen oil filters there except for STP oil Filters for bikes. You don't have to change the O-Ring unless it gets torn or distorted.
i get all my fluids......engine,primary,trans,fork oil from amsoil....if you can't find a dealer close you can order off the net, that's what i do,i even went ahead and paid a small fee to be a dealer,i like amsoil ,also use their filter(oil)
as far as the drain plugs go...just look at them,if they appear worn change them, they are available at auto stores too......you can get them from HD,but they'll cost ya.....not downing HD...they have to make money to operate, but i'm all for saving me a few $ too....
Have a 2000 FXDWG since new have used nothing but Mobile Vtwin 20/50 in crank and mobile 90/140 in trans thick but quiets it. and HD in primary. Filters try K&N you can take it on and off with 5/8 socket and has better specs than HD's in 8 years I have never replaced an O ring.....
