flush-mount fuel gauge

I'm looking into the pop-up gas cap and flush-mount fuel gauge for my carburated 2001 Fatboy. I looked into this for my Fatboy as well. Yes, both dealers I spoke to sell the pop-up cap, but one dealer told me they don't sell or install the flush-mount fuel gauge for my year/model. I asked a different dealer, and he told me there was no reason why they couldn't install the flush-mount gauge on an '01 carbed Fatboy. Who do I believe?

I tried, and he told me it's a no-go. Seems the enlightened folks at H-D changed the wiring harness for carburated Softails in 2003. revjim
