I use Stabil in anything with an engine that will be stored, winter or summer.

I hear ya Botz...I thought about starting a thread "dumb things I've done", but didn't want to be THERE ALONE! Lets see, there's the 101 octane boost, with stuck advance weights and a vacum leak...that went over real well. Piston looked like it was pierced by a laser! (ran like hell for a while, tho)

There's a couple more that I'll save for later. Take care...

Okay, so it's winter in Colorado. There's a chance I could go a month or three without pulling the bike out... but then again, it was 60 degrees today and I went for a ride. May even be nice again tomorrow. But it may be in the single digits again next week. Are there any negatives to adding a fuel stabilizer if the bike MAY be ridden?

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

Bluebob, I have always treated my fuel with Sta-Bil. If a really nice day comes along I definitely ride and have had no problems. You will be burning that treated fuel in the engine sooner or later whether on a Winter ride or in the Spring.
94, I had a "When I Was a Newbie" thread going several months ago and a lot of people shared their stories, I told a few on myself. Interest faded; I revived it recently and got a few new posts. It makes for some good reading. If you want to add a few of your own we'd like to read them. Sincerely: Shovelmike.

Sta-bil seems to work best for me. Best way I know to make sure that it's in the bowl is to run the bike with the petcock in the "off" position and let it run til it dies. The turn the petcock to "on" and start her back up for a bit.

I guess I figured on burnin' that tank of gas, but if I go out ridin' tomorrow I'm gonna need to fill it up again. I reckon I was concerned about the effects of burnin' several tanks full over the course of a season...

When you store gas for a long period you need some sort of fuel stabilizer.

Now for those that dump in the Heet and Engine cleaner stuff you are wasting your money.

The petrol companies already add that to the gas. But if you insist on it, it wont hurt nothing.

I want to address your concern, Bluebob. I have gone out for rides during warm spells in Winter with treated gas. If I need to refuel I add a little more STA-BIL following manufacturers directions for the amount of fuel I added. Even repeated burning of treated fuel has caused no problems for me. Sincerely: Shovelmike.
