Default 91 Dyna Fuel Sending Unit Removal

Hey Guys,

Spent about an hour last night trying to get the dang fuel sending unit out of the tank. I have done it once before and it was a nuisance then too. I think I got lucky last time and turned it just right and it came out. Very limited space to manuever the unit out. Any indy guys on here who have done a few? Whats the secret? I'm also thinking when I put it back in last time maybe I positioned the float lever arm on the wrong side of the wiring tube which runs straight through the tank and comes out the bottom. Gonna give it another try today. Have a good day all. Botz

Good luck with the sender,Botz. I haven't had one out of a bike yet, but have done the job on a number of cars. Last one I did was on my '89 Mustang GT, I took out the pump which was mounted with the sender; It came out without much fuss but had to be turned just right to go back in.
Oh, almost forgot, I see you finally gave in and re-registered.

Hi Shovel,

Yeah...finally re-registered. Didnt realize I could NOW edit my posts as before I could not. So....I fixed the giant pic on the other post. The sending unit is just the opposite of the car, goes in easy but coming out...whew. Its like a Rubiks Cube. ALot of twists and turns and it must be just right. The opening is "D" shaped, not round, if it were round it would be super easy.....Gonna go rack my brain some more. My indy guy said he'll get it out for me if I fail. He has a knack for these he says. Well, lunch will be on me. This guy is aces. I too had an 89 GT also an 84 GT. I swear my 84 was much faster than my 89....the HP numbers should have proved otherwise. Later. Botz

Great,Botz. Sometimes it helps to just get away from it for a while, then you come back refreshed and it works much better. That is my experience anyhow. I often get out of patience and am tempted to force things, and we know what happens then.
