Default 98 FLHRC-I fuel line leak

I have 10,000 miles on a 98 Road King with fuel injection & the fuel return line leaks where the fuel line male quick connect snaps into the female hex nut fitting that goes into the gas tank. I replaced the O ring on the hex nut to gas tank fitting, but that is not the problem. This happens on cold mornings & the fitting will drip until it is warmed up by the engine. The fuel line male quick connect swivels in the female hex nut fitting & I have jiggled it around trying to get a better seal with no luck. This quick connect assembly cannot be operated like the type that is on the TC's, which I believe can be operated like a air hose quick disconnect. I have a manual & can change out the fuel line & connection, but I am hoping that there is a design improvement on the replacement so this does not happen again. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Did you ever get this sorted out? If so, what was the problem?

I recently had the same problem on my 00 bagger the o ring in the check valve that screws into the tank was bad. if you take it to the dealer they can replace the o ring. I changed the check vavle myself for a cost of $25.00 and about 2 hours of my time. problem solved.
