Default SPRING PROBELM - Stale Gas?

If you live somwhere that you can't ride in the winter, what do you do, if anything to prevent the problems associated with stale gas in your bike?

I try to run the carb dry before I store the bike for the winter and I add a fuel stabilizer to the tank and try to keep it topped off.

How about you?

Hi Buzz

Never had a problem with gas going "stale" over one (1) winter. I just make sure I've got a full tank of fresh gas at the end of season..hook it up to batt. tender..and,pretty much walk away for a few (?) months..other than "tinkering" with it of course.

Meanwhile,I dunno..but,it seems like there's a bigger issue with gas going stale in tanks that set a YEAR or more..possibley due to summer heat, etc, added to it all ????????

Default Gas

Dump some sta-bil gas treatment in and run it for a few minutes, shut the gas off and keep running til the carb is dry.

I do the same as 48, sta-bil in the mix, run the carb dry, and the tank full to prevent condensation rust.

I don't put my bike away, I'll ride if it goes 40 degrees or higher.

Hey

I guess stale gas can be a prob.. I've always heard of additives like sta-bil but luckily I've never needed it..
However about 11 years ago I found a 5 gallon jug filled with Premium that I had forgot about for 6 years.. It smelled OK, felt OK, and looking at it reminded me of what color the gas was 6 years earlier,,, well,, I ran it in an almost empty set of 5 gallon tanks,,, wow was my first thought.. The sickle I ran it in ran superbly and I most definately had more power..

A little bit past half-way I filled up and immediately realized my mistake as it seemed to use some punch and of course soon after it was all gone and my sickle ran good again but not nearly as good as it did for about 100 great miles..

Default Sta-bil

Ride all year so haven`t used anything in the bikes. Have several generators for bad weather that hasn`t been back lately. One generator has 4yr old gas in it now and ran ok tonight. Had to use starting fluid but starts ok without it now.

If someone has a secret supply of Sunoco 260 let me know.

I found that with fuel injection I don't have a problem with gas going bad or gumming up anything.
