As a point of interest to any one that cares I have an 07 FLHTC with 10:1 compression, re-worked heads by V Twin Specialties, SE 255 cams with Thundermax and Autotune. In the hinterlands of Northern Alberta and British Columbia I've had, with much trepidation, been forced to gas up on a few occasions with 87 octane, topping up a half full tank of higher octane, and experienced no adverse effects or detonation. I only do it out of neccesity and it has worked so far.

I'm running a stock '07 Street Glide and have had to top off with regular or mid-grade on more than one occasion. As Tommyglide says, no ill effects so far on performance.

This is my Granddaughter Sky, age 7. Can't walk, talk, or feed herself but look at that smile. Anyone care to complain about their lot in life? Not me!

Here in Canada we can get 94 octane and most chevron stations will have a dedicated pump wich is why you'll see bikes at these stations . A friend of mine works for an oil company and told me that by the time your selection clears the pump and hose you get 1.5 gallons of what the guy got before you on a none dedicated premium hose.
