ironhead: Is it a rich fuel mixture or Oil getting on the plugs?

Here is another one Frisco can help with. I believe he has adjusted more Super E's than politicians have lied. Maybe a strech there.....

Frisco?

Hey JC
There is no way in the world I could do anything more than a politician lies..

You asked a great question of Mr. ironhead,, is he sure it is overly rich and not oil fouled..
All I can speak of is my own experience with the E's.. They suck..!

Ironhead

The E has a huge throat and a 39.6mm venturi.. Your 76 sport has only 1000cc's, or 60 inches.. It's like running a Holly 750 double-pumper on an old VW bug.. I'm not bum kickin you bud, we will all try to assist but it is not easy to jet or even run a huge venturi like that on a small motor..
I know S&S advertises that their carbs are the best thing you can run on any freakin thing at all but that's a lie.. OOH, it will run and run real good at waaay up RPM's where there's enough velocity through the venturi but you don't run up there very often..
What pipes are you running.. If Straight pipes/Drags well,, you're simply never going to get it right..

Tell us more about your sickle-- any cam work, head work, what pipes, what is the timing set at, how much squirt is the pump set at.. I think they pump waaay too much.. I dis-connected the pumps when I ran E's..
Also--- have you checked the float level.?

Anyway,, talk to us, tell us more..

All good points by Frisco and others.. The other thing to check it to make sure you are getting a good fat spark at the right time to burn the fuel.
