Default 2006 Dyna FI mapping

With the introduction of the closed loop injection system with the O2 sensors. How much can I get away with in terms of modifications before I have to get the $130 HD flash. Air Cleaner? Pipes? Cams? I have told I had to by a dealer even with a simple SE air cleaner kit. Shouldn't the base map and dynamic O2 adjustments take care of this minor change. i don't care about uping my RPM limit from 5800 to 6200 RPM.

i have the exact same question as you. i already bought the exhaust and intake but am afraid to install them until i know more about this efi system. do i need a tuner or the download? and if i need a tuner, which one should i get if i plan on putting carbs and a bigger bore on the bike some day?

2006 fxdwgi, planning on installing the V&H sideshots with a forcewinder XR-2 intake. anyone out there with some help on this please speak up. dr. dyno, maybe?

How much can you get away with? Nada, zilch, zero! You need the flash.

rhuarc, Forget about putting a carb on an efi bike the conversion would be cost prohibitive. If you want carbs buy a carb equipped bike.

oops i am a donkey i meant to say cams not carbs. i love the fuel injection. much easier than screwing around with a choke. i decided on the dynojet pc3 usb. it was the logical choice if i am going to put cams on eventually. now i just need to figure out how to tell the difference between the bike running lean or rich without a dyno and i will be good. i used the map from dynojet for the big shots staggered and the SE air cleaner. it seems to be close but not quite perfect. the pipes are getting wicked hot fast so i think it is running a little lean but not sure. maybe i will have to go south and visit the doctor.

So, how's she run? I'm curious cause I have my 2006 FXDBI in the shop now having a Power Commander put on, along with a few other goodies. Have you been able to fatten it up enough to stop the hot pipes condition? Did you buy 06 or 05 pipes and use the O2 sensor elimanitors, or not. I've got some Rush slip ons but I would like something new, maybe 2into1 style. Last question, did you have it dyno tuned at the dealer? Thanks in advance. I just found this site(and magazine).
