Default Carb Cleaner

Anyone here add carb cleaner to your fuel tank with EFI or is it just for older bikes with carbs?

I've had great luck with Techron additive.

Question Hmmmmm...

Hey,Bagger
I don't remember ever running anything "special" in any of my bike's tanks ('cept for a little Marvel Mystery Oil in first tank of break in) but I've run "Fuel Injector Cleaner" in my cage tanks occasionally, when performance/mileage goes down noticabley..and it's NOT my imagination when I say I can tell a difference.

Never compared labels with Carb Cleaner..is there any difference ??

The fuel injector cleaners usually have xylene and/or Toluene (tri-methylbenzene, di-methylbeneze) both are super solvents and clean the heck outa the injectors and also temporarily add a wee octane and BTU's..

I don't think it would do any good as far as cleaning goes to a carb..

The older original Techron had toluene and xylene and cumene..
The newer bottles of Techron do not list those, only Stoddard Solvent and Light distillates.. Might still be in there though but not listed..

Occasionally, I use fuel injector cleaner or Seafoam. It keeps the system cleaner than what the additives to the fuel do.

Also, for winter storege, I mix the proper amount of Stabil in a full tank, run the engine a couple of minutes. Then I top the tank off. This preserves the fuel, and helps prevent moisture.
