Default removing gas tank on '07 Fatboy

I have an '07 Fatboy, and I want to replace the handle bars. They're internally wired so I'm going to have to remove the gas tank to disconnect the wires. Does anyone know how difficult this is? I'm pretty handy, but wondering if anyone has done this before and has any pointers? Thanks, Mr. Mike

I partially removed the tank on my 07' Street Glide and that was not difficult. However, your best bet is to have a H-D shop manual at hand. Read the procedure for removing the tank before getting started. There is always some little thing that you'd miss if you try to wing it. And, that little thing might end up costing you time and money if you break something.

Second the service manual. It'll tell ya step by step. The only thing is and I didn't see it in the manual is there is a little "arm" inside that can be bent/broke easily. That may only apply to changing out/replacing the tank and not removal. I got that handy piece of info from a tech at one of the local stealers. Best of luck....
