Default Fuel price comparison

Hey everyone, anyhoot I was curious as to how gas prices across the US of A compare to my own personal pain. This summer I was paying up to 1.50 per litre for high test which equivalences out to $5.67/gal US. Now it is down to $4.00/gal and low test is at $3.40. Still an abomination. In June of aught 7 I found myself in Nevada and your prices ranged from 75 cents to a buck a gallon less than what I pay here. Oh, and did I mention I live in the heart of oil and gas production? I guess that is no benefit when gassing up.

Hey Tommy,

Bought 87 for the van @ $1.84 US gal. Found 93 for $2.14. This is 10% ethanol. Do you have real gas ?

Wow, Wrightturn, cheap gas AND warm weather. I must have been bad in my last life, but yes, we have a choice of "real" gas or 10% ethanol, either way the price is the same.

Hey Tommy,

Must have some wicked taxes on gas. Look at the money you save on air conditioning. Wow, real gas . We used to have that but somebody decided we couldn`t be trusted with it.

Fly south

Gassed up out here on Oahu for $2.76/gallon today. It's a steal compared to a few months ago.

It's $1.58 in Redwing Minnesota. Cheapest I've found in the state. You can go to Minnesota Gas Prices - Find Cheap Gas Prices in Minnesota and see the list. Or go to GasBuddy.com - Find Low Gas Prices in the USA and Canada and see a top ten list for the states.

I used these sites religiously this summer when the prices were high. I work and hour from home and I could decide wether to buy gas at work or home and save 10 cents here and there. Now that prices are lower people aren't reporting them as much so they are a little off, but I'm sure it would still give you an idear.

In Sheboygan, Wi - midway between Milwaukee and Green Bay:

Regular (10% ethanol) - $1.81
Mid-Grade (10% ethanol) - $1.85
High-Grade (MAY contain up 10% ethanol) - $1.94

If I travel 27 miles north to the gas station next door to the Harley dealership,
minimum of $.07 less per gallon, and pumps all state that it MAY contain up to 10% ethanol. I always gets better fuel economy with the gas from there.
Question then becomes, Do I want to spend an hour of my time to save 7 cents a gallon and pick up approx 2.35 miles per gallon?

Doubtfull. I wrote a spread sheet to figure out savings based on mpg gain. Basically you would save maybe a few bucks, but spend 2 or 3 times that getting there and back.

A snip from my spread sheet. This shows how many gallons you'd burn to go 300 miles. And low end average tank full of gas. The numbers don't change that much for higher mpg, but you save less.

MPG---Gallons---$$/Gal---Cost
20.00----15.00----$1.81----$27.15
22.37----13.41----$1.74----$23.33

Crimson ... Thanks for the information via the spread sheet, it is very imformative.

I meant it as a rhetorical question, but you gave me valuable info.

Thanks again!
