SClarke - it's in the service manual but here's a quickie - 1st you'll need to get your air cleaner and the backing plate off to see the throttle and idle cables down at the throttle body. 2nd you'll want to set the throttle with the front end straight ahead and the throttle at WOT. According to the manual you set the throttle cable so that the cable end at the throttle body, which activates a cam, just makes contact witht the stop on the throttle body. 3rd the idle cable is adjusted with the front end turned fully to the right. According to the manual, adjust so that the end of the cable just makes contact with the spring then adjust for proper comfort/return of the throttle to the idle position when the grip is released.
This is all from memory so I may have missed a point so if someone else has a better way...
The manual is probably the best investment you'll make after the bike itself

I just did mine, a fuel injected, the same way SGD described, and I went by the manual. Except, I found it worked better to set the idle cable with the bars turned to the left, I thought maybe it was a misprint in the manual so I checked the same for my 85 Evo and it also had the bars going to the right for idle cable. When the bike is actually at idle the bars are turned to the left so I'm not fully understanding this. But yeah, what StreetglidinDan says is what my 07 HD manual says.

Tommyglide - I agree with you on the turned right for the idle cable. I just did mine and that did seem a little weird. I just adjusted per the manual then turned straight and left and adjusted for a comfortable return of the grip to idle.

SClarke - my SG is fuel injected too. Good luck.
