Default Electra Glide mileage

I recently installed Sampson Silver Bullet mufflers and the HD low restriction air filter kit on my 2001 Electra Glide. I had my local dealer rejet the carb and then discovered I was only getting about 20-25 mpg. I took it back to the dealer who changed the jetting and I am now getting about 35 mpg when cruising at about 70mph. I was getting anywhere between 40 and 45mpg before the rejetting. Is 35mpg normal or do I need to take it back to the dealer for a third time?

In my humble opinion a 5-10 mpg drop in mileage isn't right. I'd take it back. They can do better than that.

Gee, I'd want to ask was it 40 or 45, big diff, I get that kind of spread only when I run mostly city,, and then mostly highway, otherwise I stay with-in 1 mpg...
Then I would say, 35 is mighty low for a mostly stock sickle... Jetted properly you should get about what you started with even with more power---more efficiency more mileage...
Take charge of this and figure it out yourself by doing a plug run...
Get up to highway speed and retain constant speed for about 10 miles... Then in one motion, pull in(dis-engage)the clutch and turn the switch off, then coast safe to stop using only brakes... Gloves on, plugs out, and look at color of porcelin and tip... If your poor mileage is due to over-rich jetting, plugs will be very dark-to-black... I like light-brown/brown or med-gray... On way home, take frontage road or slow lane at sustained low speed,, 40ish, 10 or more miles, don't lug, and repeat same test...
How is your timing,? improper timing (rate of advance too fast AND/OR too much advance) will screw power, mileage, efficiency, and carb tuning, make sure it's correct before carb tuning...

Its to fat(rich) you should be getting the same mileage. How many jet sizes did they jump.My 2000 roadking 5 sizes was huge in gas mileage.A couple of years ago me and the ol lady were on a four day run loaded down,I was only getting about 35 a gallon so I pulled over and dropped the jet down 5 and boom 40.We where running 70-75 most of the time.
