Default EFI Tuner D&D

Considering a 2-1 D&D Fatcat pipe on my new 09 Twin Cam. Also a V&H heavy breather air cleaner assembly. What I'm not clear on is D&D is stating with this setup NO tuner is required. How can I be pulling in more air and pushing out more air and not need a tuner to richen up the fuel intake? Seems to me bike would run even leaner without the tuner. Am I missing something? I realize the closed loop setup will adjust on its own but will it be enough? Botz

Hey Botz,
From what I've been reading the 07's, 08's, and 09's will adjust for those changes, but it's target AFR is still the same "too lean" mixture you currently have.

Botzman, They say the auto tune will correct 20% from basemap. I would believe that should cover you plenty good. If your willing to tweak the T-Max, you can actually set your own target afr manually and save the base map when you get where you want to be. Haven't needed to do it but there are intructions in the tuning manual provided to help you do it. You may already know this but in case you don't, there is just not much you can't do with the T-Max controller if you want to play with it.
