If the Mik kit was five hundred here it would be worth considering but the quote was 900. Hey Tommy next time you are at a shop see what they charge in Alberta just to see if it is an import and dollar value issue and not just the one shop here.
I will play some more with the stock CV, I've never taken the top off. Should I try a thunder slide kit? I have the slow and mid jets altered but will have to pull the float bowl for a look. I've lost the paper where I wrote down the jet sizes I put in there. I'll post that info and consult for best next steps.

Hey 03,

The jet kit is worse than a waste of money. Low speed jets are $3.00 and the needle is $10.00 (27094-88). Frequently the needle alone is enough. If you do both you can wind up too rich. I ran the needle and a 48 in my Dyna and 02 Flhp until I got the A/F meter. Went back to a 45 and the needle and plugs are brown. No knock, cough, spit or sputter. The Dyna has 26g, AR100 pipes and K&n filter and breather.

Hi 03,There's a builder out here that completely redoes the CV carbs and they are very much in demand for performance and fuel mileage, $500. I bought my Super E, everything but the manifold for about the same 4 or 5 years ago, I'll see about a Mik but it looks like Wrightturn is going to fix you up for considerably less, lucky you. Good of Wright and Frisco to offer up equipment and services, eh?

Better than good Tommy. It's like having a garage filled with mechanics who happen to have a few parts in hand. Or in a tip of the hat to Buzz it's like having the magazine come alive at home. Wright I'll get the needle and see where I am on the jet numbers. Let me ask you this. Is there a major power bump to be gained by going with something like the Mikuni? That's sort of where my mind was when I began this, although rejetting is tinkering and tinkering is just plain fun so I'll do it even if I decide to follow Frisco's advice on the Mik.

Hey03,

I have only installed one where I got to ride the bike before and after. Once adjusted they make a significant difference.

I think you will be surprised how much you can get from the stock carb. Lowest cost and you learn a lot.

Good day 03FX,
For what its worth, (no Chip, not Buffalo Springfield) after having recently purchased some scooter related items out of the US, that $445 Mik Frisco mentioned might land at your door for approx $720 plus shipping, counting the dollar exchange and border duties. That is a way better than $900.

Now that sounds like one hell of a deal. No french money here on the East Coast Ace. Have you ever heard of Canadian Tire money, we use that a lot. Do you take it at par. Don't tell him Tommy.
My vacation doesn't come around till August so I'll follow Wright's advice and re-jet now. Where are you in upstate New York? I figure that's a two day haul for sure. three maybe. I've been toying with the idea of taking a solo head clearing run this summer. You might just give me a good excuse to make it New York.

Can I buy back bacon with tire money? We are located at the Southern tip of the Great Sacandaga lake in Broadalbin N.Y.(30 miles North of Albany) Stop by if you get the chance.

03, I've ruined everything. I got a pm from a rock star Harley mechanic who wants to sell you a Mik, I won't mention his name, asking about Can Tire money. I foolishly replied before I read these last posts, maybe even inferring that the spender of that same CT money might be a Canadian pirate. Now I find out it's you.
Me and my big fat mouth.
