No worries Tommy.
I figured you might be slow on the uptake this week what with all that snow you prarie scoundrels have been suffering through. I swear I felt guilty rolling out of the garage this morning knowing your snowblower might be burning more gas than your bike.
Besides the rock star is asking for back bacon when he could have had lobster. It's selling cheaper than bacon at the wharf right now.

Ace, Google Map putes you 15 hundred clicks or so away, that's just short of a thousand miles. There's an outdoor Skynyrd Concert about half way there in August. You just never know.

Ooh Yeah

That sounds like a great deal if it's a 45 Mik..
Good man Ace..!!

Now here's something to wonder/consider about..

If just for some reason a New Mik is desired by one of our Emperor's of the North and the duties/tariffs/taxes???????etc etc turn a $445 purchase into a $720 purchase,,, um, why can't a Yank buy it for $445 and simply send it to a Northern bud..?? Hmmmmmm..?
OR is it that the Canadian dough just ain't worth a flying buck..??

Well now, Canadian dough isn't worth a flying buck, (I don't think you meant buck), however even with JUST the exchange rate it should be a purchase of about $550, still a considerable savings. Now if a Yank was paid before the purchase, and the purchase was sent as a "gift", maybe the gift wouldn't be subject to the tariffs and duties. That bares some investigation.
A good idea from a generous man.

Interesting thought.
And as you suggest Frisco the fine print is worth peaking at. I can see one possibility. Imagine if you will a grateful inexperienced wrench sending a token of his appreciation to a wiser veteran to the south. A heart felt thank you for years of guidance and encouragement would certainly not suprise or offend anyone. And imagine if such a southern sage, moved by this gesture, decided on his own to reciprocate in some way with a gift headed north. Heart warming really.

Alas I digress. To jetting for now. Looks like a rainy weekend ahead so I'll pull the float bowl tonight and see what I put in there. The mechanic who tuned the bike after I bought the SE air cleaner and Pipes says he put a Head Quarters needle in there. Are you familiar with that Wright, should that match the one you suggest?

Skynyrd concert huh? Just might be able to make a phone call to see who's doing sound for them and meet you there, then we can take a nice putt back here where I can bestow a "gift" on my hoser buddy.

Hey guys,

I have only worn out two cd`s. Skynyrd and Bob Seeger.

I can`t be sure about the Head Quarters needle. The one in the picture can be used with shims. Some things are too hard. I have never had to go to a 200 high speed unless there was an air leak. Other than that I agree with all of their advice. DON`T DRILL the slide. If the slide has been drilled and I doubt it has you can find one more use for epoxy.

Let me know.

All good advice guys!
But don't discount the "fine" in fine tuning of aftermarket kits. I can only speak about DynoJet, but if you take the time and patience to dial it in, you'll come out the other side with really good results.
The price is a bit steep for what you get, but hell, you can squander away 100 clams in the local watering hole (with a blonde on either side ) in no time.....
The adjustments on the needle are many. Couple that with the choice of many mains. If you're the type that doesn't like to fiddle, these kits are not for you. Best get a Sportster needle, shim it and you're good enough.
Sometimes good enough...isn't good enough.
On my 02 bagger, I get 42mpg, a torque band that's a mile wide, and excellent throttle response.

One thing I will say. DJ should include at least a #46 slow in their kits.

It's good to have options.

Frisco, the greater power you speak of, is it the Almighty, or greater horse power? Either one I've noticed leads to inner peace.
All these poetic posts could put a lump in a feller's esophagus.

Ahh Master Po
Can their be peace without a Mikuni 45 is now the question that haunts me? It was only weeks ago I had no concept of the crisp throttle response and power boost offered by this mysterious Mikuni. Now it lives in my head, interupts my sleep and visits when I least expect it. I have learned enough on this journey to know it will not end with the Mikuni. Perhaps like the ride that is always better than the destination it is the quest for power and not the power itself that brings peace...

and what a peacful morning it has been with birds chirping and a light mist falling outside the garage as I re-jetted the CV. So Wright, I have now gone from a 185 to a 190 on the slow and from 45 to 46 on the main with a tip of the wrench to Peter V. I left the needle until I decide on the Mikuni. I also won't head to the Dyno until that choice is made.
Still, I expect am now below the Dyno chart AF ratio which is where you sent me. Is that not an adjustment away from power? Mind you I do accept that longevity and rideability are critical, power is just fun.
