As they said.. check for an intake leak first. With engine running. Spray the intake areas both behind the carb and where it mates to the motor. Spray it with brake or carb cleaner. Can use WD40 as well but the cleaners evaporate and leave no residue. If the idle comes up... INTAKE LEAK.

If not... we move on

You say the engine coughs... it looses power for a second and then keeps on going right? Maybe even coughts out the carb... What I'm getting at is... its not popping out the exhaust correct?

That is a tell tale sign that you are leaning out. On a S&S carb... jsut go up on the int. jet. But I'm not sure which carb you have on your 93. However I will stand behind that you need more fuel on the slow/int. jet.

Thanks for the comments. It's too complicated for this old man. The Harley shop has it and they are also thinking intake leak and the carb is too lean.

It's fixed! Dealer replaced the yost power tube and intake seals, tuned the bike and it runs great. Thanks for all your help.

Did the dealer give you a reason for replacing the Yost Power Tube ???

They showed me the old tube. It looked like the rubber had deteriorated. I assume it makes a "seal" for some purpose. Don't really understand all I know about it.

Since "Yost Power Tubes" (actually just a modified needle-jet/emulsion tube) are made of solid brass (no rubber seal) I suspect that the "old tube" you were shown was actually your carb's orig. black plastic piston slide (tube-like) and diaphragm (rubbery) both of which (one unit actually) are subject to wear and deterioration....noting that the Yost jet-needle (not to be confused with needle-jet) is positioned in there...which you seem to have gotten mixed-up with.

Big difference...more than a little misleading...and a good example of why it's very important to KNOW for SURE what you're talking/writing about...not JUST share "all you DO know" okay !?!
