If it wasn't for the pinko-commie enviromental nazis and the eco-freak liberal tree huggers we would have lots more nuclear power plants and wouldn't need to burn oil, gas, or coal for power...
ALL of our over restrictive, unfair, un-American emissions testing problems are directly attributed to the crazy liberal hippy pinko-commie eco-freaks...
Liberals are the root of ALL evil in America...
LOL - yep blame it on the Democratic Liberals, no - I mean blame it on the tree huggers, no wait, blame it on the little endagered fishies, no wait - blame it on the other guy! OK-howaboutthis??, lets bame anyone we can, but certainly not ourselves right? we are simply poor hapless vicitims of the "man's machine" opporessing us an holding us down, right?
puhleeze!
I think we are getting what we deserve - unfortunately - we didnt pay attention or protect our turf when the battle lines were drawn, and we as a "collective group with common interests" didnt pay attention to the folks we put in office (because ya know they were VOTED in - and not by aliens either - it was US that voted them in) and now we are bitching.
well rather than bitching and looking to assign blame - why not get informed and write YOUR elected officials who are putting these laws into effect - becasue friends, the work for YOU and YOU elected them!!
this is an area that many bikers know little about(new epa laws). I only know whats going on because I happened to buy a AIM when there was an article outlining the new laws.(have since become a subscriber). most of the people I ride with know little or nothing about the new laws. Its pretty hard to get involved when you know nothing.
There is alot of bikers in this country, and if we knew these changes were coming about, I think we would have rallied together and tried to stop them BEFORE they became law.
Now we need to get the CORRECT info out to our brothers and make sure our voices are heard. AIM has a great platform to get behind a HUGE movement, and I am glad to see them doing something.
You're absolutely right, . All this "pollution control" stuff we're having to suffer through is akin to putting a thousand band-aids on your body after you've been dragged down the road for about five miles. The real answer to the pollution problem is NOT to fix the things that caused it, but to replace the things that cause it with better "things". And replacing our fossil and petro fueled power generating stations with nukes is the first thing we should do because we'll get the most bang for our bucks by ridding ourselves of the biggest pollution source .... to say nothing about ridding ourselves of all the associated causes, e.g., the negative environmental effects from mining, drilling, refining, and fuel transportation and storage. The second target should be gas powered vehicles .... starting with the big polluters, then working doown to the little polluters (like motorcycles). If the first two were adequately addressed, we'd never be considered as candidates for "control".
Steveb,
The reason we're "only getting what we deserve" is because we sat out the first eight innings .... which was the big "energy independence" cruncn and crusade back in the mid to late seventies. We allowed the greenies to prevail, not because we didn't care about our bikes, but because we were too involved with our bikes (and other things) to contest them on the real issue of "energy production". Until we do that, everything else is treating the effect, and not the cause .... and that is always a losers game .... which makes what you said correct .... it's now our turn to lose.
Nobody thought it would go this far. I thought they would first attack Lawnmowers, Snowblowers, Boat Motors, Construction Equipment and a wide range of other products. Personally, I think the EPA has been a little power nuts the past 10 years.
So before this gets too out of control maybe we should think about getting together for a buzz around the Capital this summer.
Awww, evo, ya' got me. I should have said there's 6 seconds remaining on the fourth quarter clock and we're down by 86 points .... or something like that.
Yeah, I really would like to see a homer and a clean sweep, but I think we're just another band aid on a fresh corpse. (Let's see ya' bring "that" one back from the grave!)
Poki, Cryogenics my friend, cryogenics. You may be right we need some direction from the people in the know. Do you hear that Chris? I think svatos has an idea!
Laws are changed every day. If enough people get together wanting the law changed then the gov will have to amend the laws. I believe there enough bike riders out there to make this happen. Nobody can say we aren't passionate about our bikes. Everyone needs to call their state and federal elected politicians and let them know what you think and remind them that elections will be coming up. Also let them know how loyal we are to those who back us up.
