That sounds like a good thing to get behind alright, Majic. I would like to see it reach its full potential. If some fat cat politicians can find a way to use it to line their pockets it will come about.

The sad thing, the one that's going to make it a problem, is that it's so simple. Too simple. Gov't likes hoops and procedures and and 18 page manual on how to make a chocolate chip chookie. Like I said in another post - I am trying to get help to market a something that can get any I.C.E get 20% - 50% better MPG, HP, and reduce emmisions by those same numbers. Oh yeah, it'll keep your motor cool like nobody's business, too. The problem is that it goes against what everyone "knows" about the way I.C.E.'s work and is accepted as mechanical gospell. It reminds me how you can define what a fruit is, and show exactly how a tomato is a fruit, then ask someone it was just explained to what a tomato is and they'll still insist that it's a vegetable.

Hey Majic

Do you have a patent yet or is that why you call it a "something"..??

Get that patent man..
It makes alota diff when you want to present it for market or investors..
First you get a Provisional Patent so you have exactly one year of protection while you market and also save up for the Non-Provisional Patent..
Once you get that you're home free..

I am also getting a patent for a sickle tool I invented..

Good luck bud..

NO. The patent is owned by someone else, but I am trying to get him to license it to me. He likes my enthusiasm and ideas, but I haveto jump through some hoops he has first, and that's where I get stuck. He's had a lot of people ask tolicense it but they don't want to meet his criteria first, they just want to bang this stuff out and sell it like something run through the FDA in a hurry. I want to do what he requires, get his blessing and get this thing marketed. To some it would be a simple thing for his first hopp, but I can only wrench so much on a bike before I'm in danger of being over my head, and I have serious lack of friend with the skills, too. Plus, and more important, things are really tough for me right now as my hours got cut, the wife got laid off, and the baby needs a new pair of shoes. Ok, she needs formula more than shoes, but you get the idea.
If anyone has some heads for a '01 883XLC they want to volunteer it would be much appreaciated. That's make it half a hoop down, about six-and-a-half more to go.

Default Back To Ethanol

Back to the ethanol subject. I try to avoid the gas containing the stuff. My propane man who also handles gasoline told me that all the gas in our state is gasohol now by order of the Governor.
(my propane fill up cost me $730, ouch)

The fed gov't has required that all gas have ethanol mixed in and a schedule for prduction thus:

2008: 9 billion gal/year renewable fuel vs. prior rate of 5.4 bgy

2012: 15.2 bgy in 2012 vs. prior rate of 7.5 billion

2022: 36 bgy in 2022

The problems with this:

The US only is capable of using corn to make ethanol at this time, plus they pretty much mandated that corn be virtually the only source.

Prices for anything to do with corn (food or feed) makes everything else go up in price due to demand.

More farmers grow corn and less of other grains, so the price of other grains go up.

Even ethanol refineries are having a problem finding someone to let them build it in someone's back yard.

Default Question

Since most gas punps indicate 10% ethanol why are octane ratings staying the same ? I lived through converting bikes to unleaded and mixing octane booster, alcohol and aviation gas to keep my Olds W30 running. I have some understanding of octane and detonation. Since octane ratings for alcohol are higher than pump gas why are we still at 92 ?

Hi Wrightturn

Just today I was looking into that. And,I think that if you refer to Wikipeda Encyclopedia...under octane/octane-ratings/effects of octane ratings...you'll find just about anything you want to know about it...incld' the ethanol stuff

I hope this helps
