Majic,
I dont have to read popular mechanics for the awnser, I live it, for the past ten years, and it puts food on my familys table and the people who work for and with me!

Your correct its not only the demos, but the majority in public offices opposing are on the demo side. But there is the NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) mantality though out this country. We have people (Driving SUVs) to come and police what we are doing in this area. They dont want us to drill or produce, but to save the enviroment. What they do not see is the advancements the gas/oil companies have made to protect the enviro, and preserve the natural history of the areas. But some people just need a cause to make their life worth while. Then they go home turn on the lights (from a coal fired power plant), Turn up the heat (from natural gas) eat their food (packaged in plastic, from oil products) and live their lifes like everyone else. Your right about most the law makers profiting, but this country also wastes a lot of money on BS law suits by enviormental groups (such as SUWA) that try to block ever step the Gas/Oil companies make.

Majic; have you every herd of a true blue republican ( not a mcain who is rep ticket and votes dems sided) vote against development and exploration of oil on our country to help relieve forign dependancy. I think youll have a hard time finding more than a hand full.

As long as all of us say nothing the enviros, and lawmakers will keep doing what they always have.

Our politicians are in bad shape. I really dont see any good ones to replace them. I am just waiting for society to turn (Mad Max) and we fight for gas and water. Only the strong survive. Politics, Religion??? Blame it all on the Free Masons or another secret society.
