Default Cam end play 89 Evo

I am new here so please bear with me. I posted this over at the Evo board but figured I might have better luck here.
Hi All,
This is my first post here and unfortunately I am writing to ask for some tech advice.
I am putting a Andrews EV-27 cam in my 89 FLT.
Now my problem is< I need to know what the proper end play is supposed to be.
According to the instructions that came with the cam I put a .055 spacer shim along with the trust washer and I have a gap of .024. My manual says the end play should be .001 to .050. That seems to be an awful lot of play.
Has anyone installed one of these cams in a 89 Evo?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Welcome, Testecleez. As I recall, you would perhaps be not too far from Stockbridge Mass., the setting of Arlo Guthrie's classic "Alice's Restaurant Massacreeee".
Sorry, couldn't resist. Visit us often, great bunch of people here.

Mike I am about 1/2 hour from stockbridge. Beautiful country here. I can go from my house and travel for hours without seeing a traffic light or stop sign.
Probably the deciding factor when I bought my house not to mention my own trout stream and a riding buddy right next door.
Noe to legitimise this post I have gotten the answer to my end play question from Andrews. .010 to .015

Keep it between the ditches.

Default God's Country!

It sounds like you live in a very nice area for riding. I too choose to live in the sticks. I have 5 acres, half of that is woods. I love to ride the backroads, not much traffic, few stop signs. Much more relaxing than metro areas with all the crazies to look out for. I'm glad you got the end play information you needed. Ride safe (Spring is just around the corner), and God bless. Sincerely: Shovelmike.

I have 10 acres, in the sticks. The nearest town is several miles away. Two vehicles at the stop sign is a traffic jam.
