Default I hope the XR is coming soon!

When I looked at the 08 line up, the Sportster model line-up is missing the 883R and now only two Sportsters with the peanut tank, both 883 in size. The first thing I thought was that the Mo.Co. is making room for the XR. Please give us a better Sportster, lighter and more power. The Nightster is not what many of us had in mind, no offense to anyone that likes the Nightster.

I wish they'd call the new XLC's "baby dynas" instead of Sportsers. The peanut tank is an icon! It's a huge part of what makes a Sportster a Sportster! It took HD almost 50 years to figure out that ruber motor mounts on a Sporty is a good idea, but they go mangle the Sporty tank in 6! Grrr!!!!

I wouldn't recommend holding your breath for the XR, I heard, unofficially, that it's a non happening. Too bad, it looked pretty cool.

Dang Buzz, some people at H.D. spent so much time and effort to move the Sportster in a direction, XR, that had many of us excited. If after all this, they don't give us the XR, I will be very disappointed. I'm not sure I like the way the Sportster is evolving. What happened to the sport in Sportster? She deserves better IMO.

The way they keep trying to guess what the masses want and my next Sporty is going to say "Buell" on the tank.

My wife and I just purchased a XL1200L. It doesn't have the traditional Sporty look, and the main culprit is the loss of the peanut tank. If I had my way the peanut would be the mainstay of the line.

That said, I can tell you that this bike is heads and shoulders over all the other Sporties I've owned or ridden. The EFI and rubber mounted drivetrain allow for miles of pleasurable riding. I can ride all day, and not have body parts vibrate for monents after I climb off the bike, and I can use the mirrors! The EFI gives a seat-of-the-pants impression of more HP and torque than a carb version.

I think HD is doing a pretty good job with the Sporty, but I think a model with some serious go-fast parts would sell well for them. Get some Buell motor parts, upgrade the brakes, and add some performance shocks and I'll bet they couldn't build enough of them.

My $.02 YMMV

Rick

I heard someone at the Harley dealers meeting said they were going to make this bike but sell it only in Europe. What's that all about? I though Harley was an American company!

I got an e-mail from the PR people at the Motor Co., I've been buggin them for the XR, and was told that the XR is a go for the folks across the pond for now. I think the XR is coming hear at some point in time. Until then I will keep tellin the Motor Co. that I have the cash and would like to buy the first one sold in the U.S. Keep the faith all of you out there that want a sportier Sportster, less weight, more power and better shocks at both ends and all that the XR could be. Until then, ........

The XR will be released in Europe in the spring of 08, according to my sources. And if enough of us show interest, we will have it soon after. Keep the faith Sportster lovers' !

I heard the XR has already left the factory and will be at our dealers soon. The XR has already shown up at a few. I was disappointed you didn't have more faith Buzz.
