Question Ipod Stereo - Sportster 1200c Fitting

Need some advice, I have purchased a 'Chromeworks' Ipod stereo to fit to my 2007 1200C Sporty.

No problem with he mechanics of fitting the pieces to together on the bike, however wiring wise I am stuffed...!!!

Can someone provide me with an ' Idiots Guide' to wiring this to the battery.

Its only two wires but they are filling me with dread....

I am totally confused.

This is what I have:

To connect the amp to the battery I have a red and a black wire.

I have purchased HD part 70270-09 accessory adaptor, hoping this would somehow connect direct to the battery terminals via some magic (and now completely invisible connector) and all I would have to do is plug the wires for the power and earth directly into that adaptor. sadly this isn't the case... I cant find the adaptor lead on my bike from the battery nor can I see how the HD adaptor lead fits to the battery, if indeed it is a direct fit and not thru' some other lead...

I hate the thought of hacking thru cables to splice cables together, my friend has a BMW 1200 trike, he cut through a cable and has somehow managed to completely disable his bike thru the alarm system...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.... Brigger....

typicaly on DC votage the black wire is the negative(-) and the red wire is the positive(+). I would highly recomend an inline fuse on the positive wire, probably a 5 amp, or just above the load range of the amp, right at the battery connection, just so if the wire shorts to the frame it wount cause more problems than needed.

Brigger.

The adapter lead on your bike for the battery should be twards the front of the battery. Its grey and hanging on to a cheap plastic connector by the battery box to the frame I think. You should see it with the side cover off.

Is part number 70270-09 for direct connect into the amp? Something special?

Part number 70270-04 is an additional harness to hook up extra electrical assesories.

Where is the placment of the Amp? Under the seat?

What you can do is strip the red and black wires from the amp to battery at the battery end. Go to the Hardware or electronics store. Pick up a connecter for the posative and negative that will fit around the bolts on the battery terminal connector. "Those bolts that you tighten the nuts down for the cables on yer battery"

The connectors should be completely round to fit around the bolt. They have a plastic piece on the end to slide the bare wire in. Heat to shrink the plastic around the wire. Take off both nuts to yer battery terminals. Slide positive connector to pos and negative connector to neg with wire already attached around bolt. Put nuts back on to hold em tight.

Talking Ipod Stereo - Sportster 1200c Fitting

I Managed To Fit The 'two Wheel Tunes' Ipod Stereo To My 1200c.

I Rightly Or Wrongly Wired It Thru The Headlight.

Works Perfectly, Until I Change To Hi-beam...!!!

But I Am Happy... 50 Watts Per Channel Probably Isnt Enough Though, Adequate At 40-50 Mph With No Wind.

I Love The Look Of The Bullet Style Speakers.

Anyone Interested I Got It From Chromeglow.com

Thanks For All The Tips..

Brigger
