I wonder why, since Sportsters are one of the MoCo's big sellers, as well as being iconic to the brand, don't Sporties get the goodies made that the bigboys do? Even stuff like shift linkages, that come in all kinds of cool designs for every other bike, the Sportster gets , oh, maybe chrome. Waahooo! That just spiffs things right up now, doesn't it? Yawn...

Where are the wicked linkages, the frame and neck covers, etc.???

Hi Majic

When you state that sportys are one of the Co.s big sellers, what do you mean.?
Does it out-sell the "bigboys" model, hey, that's what you called it..

Do you have the stats on the sales of the diff models.?

And ah, iconic to the brand..???
It's been around about 50 years right.. So, is it more iconic than say the FLH, or any bagger, or uh, the bigboys model.?

Not getting on you bud, but you know me,, some statements just need back-up..

I wonder what a CVO Sportster would look like. My local bike monger has only 2 Sportsters left, and can't get anymore til the 09. And then he will not get as many next year as he got this year. I guess most people buy one when that's really not the bike they wanted in the first place now days. I agree that there is not as much bling for the Sportster people. It's okay with me cause there are alot of good deals out there now on used stuff. I got a whole box of new parts at a swap meet for next to nothing.

Hey Majic,

Lots of stuff for Sportsters. Shop the catalogs for life after the MoCo. Tanks, seats, bars, pipes, performance parts.

One of the great loves of my life after my family is an antique motorcycle. BE GREATFUL YOU CAN GET PARTS PERIOD. You don`t have to cut your own gaskets or fit o-rings from a Chevy trans to the valve caps.

Hey Hump

Thanks for the info..

3rd place outa 4 does not really qualify for "big seller" ..

Now, as for that "iconic to the brand" stuff,,,,, hmmmm..

There's a reason Sporties have been around for 50-odd years. Also, when HD had a small "travleing museum" 3 of the 4 bikes were Sporties. Sporties ARE iconic, the tank in particular. I wasn't slamming any of the bike bikes, just wondering why Sporsters get left out of the loop.

Hey Magic

I know you weren't slamming any other bike, I just wanted to hear the basis for your statement..
You have passion for your fav bike, that's cool..

I will disagree with you about it being the icon, which is what iconic means, for the brand but will agree about the tank..
It does make for fine looking lines huh, as long as a guy doesn't want to go very far..

Almost 35,000 miles in 2 years is farther than most bt's are ridden. You just have to stop for fuel more often.

Yeah, but what are the numbers for each bike model? There are many different version of Geezer Glides and BT's, not so many for Sportsters. I also wonder what the VROD numbers are?
