Default The right oil for the cold

Does anyone know what oil my 1200 should use in the winter months? (i think) 10 40 Diesel oil from the manual but i heard 20-50 was what these engines use mostly -

Thanks,

I always use 20-50 mobil 1. I just let the bike warm up longer on colder days.

Mobil 1..15w50..best AIM rated...cheaper than (bfd) CYCLE lable/rated SYN oils...avail most anywhere...and note the 15wPART for winter (W) use.

I been running Mobile1 15/50 "Year Round" the last few years. Bikes been running in air temp over 100 degrees and below zero. No known issues.

If you guys keep this up you're going to convince me to use Mobil 1 15W50 instead of VTwin 20W50.

Default Mobil 1 V Twin

Hey Ken,

V Twin is still cheaper than Syn 3. You have to buy Syn 3 from Alibaba and the other 40.

I use 15/50 Mobil 1 in the FLHP and V Twin in the Dyna. Don`t ask me why other than it works.

If you have an Auto Zone near you get the discount card. When you spend $100.00 you get $20.00 free stuff. I spend the $20.00 on V Twin 20/50 convincing myself it was a good deal.

I buy filters from Alibaba when they have a 20% off several times a year.

Yeah,Wright

But 15/50 Mobil 1 is still cheaper (just as good) than their 20/50 V-Twin stuff. I've got a COSTCO card and had been buying it for like $30** per 6 pack...although they seemed to have run out of or discontinued it,when I was there the other day...still cheaper most anywhere...and available most anywhere.

As for filters..I'm big on the K&N at a slightly higher cost than most, for GOOD reason. But,like you say, will grab one from Ali & 40 in a pinch. In fact more than one... if they're on sale...just to make sure I've got SOMETHING on hand.
