Default two different spark plugs?

my 1997 1200 with 4,400 miles on it 3 months ago , now has over 6,500 miles on it and the plugs seem to look a little rusty...also I was told that they are both different spark plugz.

To winterize my beast i want to put on the right plugs and also the best wiring since it has braided wiring I also heard to replace that as well...

any suggestions?

John

Hi,Johns
Aside from different sizes and heat ranges etc...spark plugs are JUST spark plugs and pretty simple to read if you know what you're looking at. But before even begining to help you select the right plugs etc for YOUR machine we'll be needing more information. Is your bike stock ? If not, what modifications have been made..right down to what you may think is the smallest detail...carb,exhaust,air filter etc. That and when you say things like your plugs look "rusty"..are you talking about literally on the exterior or color-wise on interior ?? Oh, and when you say they're "both different" (which would stand to reason if one's different than the other) are you talking about just brand names or what (?) noting that different brands have different numbers on them and can be virtually identical otherwise.

Meanwhile, I'll go as far as to say that a redish color on your plug insulator is generally from additives to the fuel you're running...particularly octane boosters. The latter of which would be "over-kill" in a stock engine (example) that in most cases does'nt even need as high an octane RATED pump fuel that some guys insist on running for "whatever" reason...and actually LOSING performance & mileage as a result.

So "anyways"...just give us a much as you can to work with, incld'g what's been going into your tank, and we can all take it from there...Okay !?!
