Help....

My wife wants mini apes on her 04 1200c.Any recommendations?Has anyone out there done this?

I'm going to. I bought her some mini apes for her 92 1200 Sportster. I'll be putting them on soon since it snowed here last night.

where did you get your bars?what brand cost etc

Bars are cheap. I believe You will need an new longer clutch cable, Front brake cable and extend the wires to your switches. Have you measured this yet?

Don't listen to JCP. All you need is a good cable stretcher and some wire growth hormones. At least that's how I did it in a dream once. I'm pretty sure it worked out....

Man, I gotta get a new girlfriend. Once again I find myself with too much free time on my hands.

Have put buckhorns, and mini apes with about 4 inch rise on 1200c. The stock riser has a slight pullback to consider. You will need a new front brake line and extended wires. Clutch cable and throtle are ok. Check out an FXDL before you buy. Harley has a good selection to consider. I have used J&P and Flanders. I have gotten lazy and don`t make control cables anymore, just order from Barnett cable.

Wire growth hormone ????? Gotta try that.

Thanks for the info,i'm thinking of changing out the stock risers as well.I don't like how the mini apes look with the stock riser.Do you think I'll need a new speedo?

Hey Gunny,

There are a couple of ways to mount the speedo without replacing. I used the top clamp to save the indicator lights and used an HD top mount. Might be a good time to add a tach. Check the catalogs. Much less expensive than HD.

i have had the 12 inch harley mini apes on mine. and now i am running road6customs 8 inch with the springer . my bike came with buck horns and i didn't have to change anything to make them work.
