Default oil leak

I just got my bike back today (07 883 Custom) while it was in the shop i had the shop install a chrome primary cover. I got the primary off Ebay, it all bolted up but now I have an oil leak coming from around the shifter. The cover was an old part number for an 04, the 07 showed a different part number but everything looked the same so I am assuming they are identical other than part number, does anyone know what might be up. I've got some play in the shifter rod side to side, up and down, and in and out.... i really need to get this fixed ASAP, could someone measure their shifter rod so I can determine if thats the one difference between covers, or at least shoot some ideas my way.

Sorry to hear of your problem. Just a guess, but should there be a gasket, O-ring or other items in the primary cover hole? If so, perhaps it is missing, damaged or loose. Good luck

well, got it figured out, popped off the inspection cover and looked for the bushing on the shifter shaft where it goes through the primary cover, it wasn't there, so now all i gotta do is pull the primary, put in the new bushing and i'm set .

wouldn't have been as bad had I not paid to have it installed... Harley dealership installed the primary... it was a used part and they installed it without checking it over.

one would think.... they are at least working with me to make it right, so I can't complain about them too much, it's just frustrating, the bike had been in the shop since december on wreck repairs, and i still found about 6 things straight off that needed attention, not counting the oil leak.
