Default rwb944p

Hello Folks. Just bought a Harley 1200C Sportster. I'll be 69 in May and haven't owned a bike in about 30 years. I'll register it in the Spring. I've been reading a great deal about gas blends. Can anyone tell me what Brand name gas is good for the harley and what specific gas I should stay away from. Thanks for any info . Bob.

Greetings rwb, only 69? A perfect time to have a Sporty, and many years of riding to go. Our gas is different than yours, but don't use anything more than 10% ethanol, less if you can.

I run straight 91 octane in my sporty. I run mainly Chevron gas. No problems.

Welcome aboard,Bob...as already mentioned here stick to 10% or LESS ethanol...and unless your properly tuned engine is modified stick to the octane rated fuel recommended in your owners manual. Contrary to what seems to be a popular belief, higher octane rated fuel than required to deter pre-ignition/detonation only serves to deter "normal" ignition/combustion too...not good for perf or mpg.

I failed to mention I have a 2005 and the owners manual calls for 91. I agree with Ken, yours may be different.

Remember that the current 69 is now the 59. But that still sounds old . Maybe the current 69 is now the new 49. I can deal with that Regards BOB
