| | stage 1 I am looking at this stage one air cleaner on the Bay. The seller does not know if it will fit my CV carb. To me it looks like it might fit. Can anyone tell be looking at the backer plate whether it will fit a CV.
Thanks in advance
Joe

| | The air filter assembly you're showing will fit your CV carb. But, by the looks of the cover, it appears to be off a TC engine, and I don't know if the back plate breather holes would line up on an EVO head. Meanwhile I left a little tip for you, on your last thread regarding the installation of your new EV-27 cam. Did you read it ? And, if so, was it of any help to you ?? |

Yeah I read your tip. I had it miked up and everything looked good to my guy so I put it in. Once I get it back together I will take it to his shop so he can give it the once over.
The air cleaner came off a 2006 Wide glide according to the seller. I don't know crap about this new stuff (anything newer than 85 is new crap to me) LOL
All I know is that my brother gave me this CV carb that I rebilt and added a thunder slide plus new cables.
Thanks for all the help

| | Kool...it sounds like you're on a roll here. Just one more thing, for now. Be SURE to R+R your stock inner-cam-bearing, with a new Torrington bearing. I can assure (from experience) that the stock one will not last long, with the new cam...period !! Fortunately, I heard/noticed that little "whizzing" noise before any serious damage. But, of course, it could have reeked-havoc in there, on short order...and, I had'nt ridden it more than 1-K miles, after the cam installation, etc. Catch 'ya later...and good luck ! |

| | The first thing I did when I tore it down was to put in the torrington. Don't want to do this twice.

| | Good move...I tried to skimp there. Because I did'nt have the right tools for it ...and, was'nt going to pop the $190.00 just (?) to R+R an $8.00 part at the time...dumb, huh !?! At 50-K miles now, I'm starting to get a little blue smoke, only noticable at idle. I'm figuring it's just (?) a valve-guide-seal issue.
But, hey...that's a heads-off deal anyhow. So, will be doing my first HARLEY
upper-end job...rings,valves,etc. Ain't looking to build another "race-bike'. But,am concidering having the heads decked,.050" and go with a .030'' head-gasket.
Which, I'm told will bring C.R. up to 9.5:1...noting that it already runs just fine
along with/against the T.C.s, with (mine) just modified with. EV-27 cam, Yost
carb kit, Dyna 2000i single-fire ign, and, Cycle Shack staggered-dual M pipes
Probem (?) is at 50-K miles, the stock lifters are about (?) due for R+Ring, too.
Yeah, and as long as I'm going to be going "down-there" again, I'm THINKING about tossing (?) in an S+S reed-type breather valve (hint-hint) that's CURED
that evil EVO blow-by issue in at least one case I know of.
I'm pretty sure you'll be more than content, with what you're doing and/or have done with yours. And, can't fathom the need to go to a "bigger" and/or
"newer" scooter...with THEIR issues, either.

Ken...formerly known as JustMe313 | I almost didn't repalce the ineer bearing because of the need for a special tool. If there is a AUTO ZONE auto parts store near you they loan out special tools for free. You just have to pay with credit card then they credit your card when you return the tool. I used the BLIND HOLE PULLER KIT to get the old bearing out and used the old cam to put the new bearing in.
I got this info here on the boards or maybe one of the other boards. Great bunch of people. |

Ken | No problem Ken. I am fairly new to these forums but have been riding for most of my life. Just been out of it for a number of years. Joe
