I tried starting my '96 FLHT today to attempt a quick ride (all of a mile) to drop her off at the shop, for some minor prep work for the up comming season. Alas she would not turn over, plenty of juice - she's been on a battery tender all weekend) a couple of times i thought she was going to go, but alas no luck. It was cold up here today around 35 Deg F. and my garage isnt heated. so i put her back on the BT and will try again tomorrow when its warmer. Does any one have any tips? there is a full tank of gas, and the other fluids are fine.

You say it will not turn over even though it has plenty of juice..
OR,, do you mean it will NOT FIRE,, But it DOES turn over..
If it has plenty of juice it should at least turn over, do you see my confusion.?
OK, let's go here.. I'm gonna jump ahead.. If it's Not EVEN turning over but has juice I would say look for a dis-engaged wire/ground/switch/hot cable..
OR,, perhaps it has enough juice to read on a multi-meter but not enough to turn over cause it doesn't have enough for a LOAD.. Cold will bring out a weakness in a battery that does not show otherwise..
OR,, If it's turning over but won't start it could simply be you didn't give enough choke or it was too much, thus, flooding it.. Then it's a game of patience and knowing how long to wait, then clear it, then try again..
OR,, you have enough juice to turn over but it won't start because there's just enough juice to turn over but not enough to fire because electronic ignitions are power hungry.. That's why sometimes they fire just as you let off the button..
That happened to Sweet-butts Hi-comp 80" only a few months ago..

im sorry for the confusion, but you are right it will turn the starter, but thats the extent of it... all of the electronics work. to full extent when the switch is on ignition.
now that you mention the choke issue i believe that my low idle jet is plugged, because at the end of the season last year she was giving me a little trouble starting, and the enricher nob kept wanting to pull itself in before the bike was warmed, so that might be the source of the problem. this was part of the service that she is going in for, along with a couple of tires and a fuel filter to mention a few things.. thanks for the insight

If your enrichener knob is pulling itself in then your problem has more to do with a poltergeist than anything we can help you with! Beyond that[no pun intended] check the simple things first. Is your kill switch in the right position? Do you have the petcock in the on position? The diaphram could be stuck in the closed position.
my sporty had the same problem with the enricher at the end of the first season i had it, it was a combination of a blocked low idle jet, and a worn out spring..
kill switch? am i missing something? i wasnt aware she had one

Hi Guys
I just reread this thread again and noticed that DamageInc's original statement was that his ENGINE would NOT TURN OVER...then later stated that the STARTER MOTOR DOES...could we be talking about a failing starter clutch ?
The enrichner knob work or is it broken. Mine broke at the carb a few years back. When you roll the throttle a few times do you get gas in the carb? Does it attempt to fire up then die or Nadda? You got yer Fuel petcock open/on?
