Welcome aboard cappy! I can't comment on your specific model but I own a 97 Superglide so if you would like some info on the big twin evo I can be of some help. Is your bike completely stock? And I mean right down to the plug still being in place on the bottom of the carb where the idle mixture screw is. If not what mods have been done to it?

Welcome to the forum, Cappy. Congratulations on finding that low mileage bike. I haven't heard any concern with that model. Enjoy! Visit us often. Sincerely: Shovelmike.

The only thing the previous owner did was drill out the mixture screw out. All i did so far was put pipes on it and jet kit.

Hopefully you didn't bolt on straight pipes. If you are just looking for a mild performance increase take what you've already done add a good performance air cleaner, SE ignition module #32630-96 and SE performance coil #31653-97 and get a good set of wires. These simple bolt ons will add approximately 10-12 hp [mid to high 60's range] with an almost equal amount of torque over stock. If you decide you really want to get serious we can go there too. Stock cases on an evo are good to about 85-90 hp after that reliability goes out the window real fast. What's nice about the module that I mentioned is that it's good to the mid 90's so you wouldn't have to change it. If you really want to tune it you could go to a selectable or fully adjustable ignition module.

I put Vance & Hines Longshots on. I did not do the air cleaner yet.
I want to use the original cover any opinions.

There are many to choose from and opinions vary but any good after market air cleaner with a K&N filter will do. I currently use an Arlen Ness big sucker. If you want to keep a stock looking cover buy a Mikuni cover. It looks very similar to stock but without the cutout that's left on the stock air cleaner after the stock air cleaner box is removed.
