Default Expected Life of Stock Evo Engine

I've heard of people who have 50,000 miles or more on stock Evo engines and they are still going strong with little more than regular oil changes.

What kind of service have forum members seen or enjoyed from a stock (not rebuilt) Evo big twin engine?

I know of one evo close by that has 80,000+ on it and hasn't touched the motor other than oil changes. I'm impressed. I think some day I might have to buy one? It might be nice to push a button to start a bike..........or am I just getting lazy?

A local man has one of the first Evo dressers around here and he has put close to 150,000 miles on it. I believe he had a top end job done to it around 100,000 miles and that has been the only thing he has had to do to it.

Hey lazy starting is ok so long as it doesn't mean NOT riding!

I'm riding a 94 Fatboy, original owner, with 30,000 miles and NO rework besides adding chrome. Low mileage I know but with a broken back I can only ride occasionaly (when pain drugs allow), with nothing more than regular service. Only problem ever is that the starter button sometimes doesn't.

So anything we can do to stop this happening? or is it a hit or miss problem, I suppose regular oil changes are gonna help, anything else?

Maintenance, plain and simple. My evo has more than proven itself. I'm more concerned with my new Twin Cam! Only time will tell.

Maintenance...Maintenance...Maintenance...and,R & R'ing your stock inner cam bearing with a Torrington bearing would be a wise move...and,"hey" toss in the likes of an Andrews EV-27 cam while you're at it...you'd LUV the NOTICABLE difference.

Ok the deed is done, had it changed to a torrington, and also fitted a EV23 which I got at a good price...

I had 60,000 miles on my 1997 RoadKIng when I sold - no engine work had been done - burned about .5 quart of oil between changes at 2500 miles.... I should have kept the thing and sent it off to the MOCO had it rebuilt ...but only Buzz can ride more than 1 bike.
