| | Adj Pushrods Hey Draggin,
They save the mech a lot of work. They put another $35.00 in the dealers pocket. They are mandatory for certain cams.

| | I was at the shop looking at a set of SE rods and found that you can't just cut out the old color coded ones and stick them in. I don't get it. I sure miss my shovel.... I found that Andrews makes a set for E-Z install but they're expensive.

| | Hey draggin
I just went back to some of your previous posts to refresh my memory of what bike you have etc (which is EZ to do just by clicking on your user-name in case others did'nt know) and it seems you're still in the process of installing an EV-23 cam in your
EVO engine. Yeah, and,,based on that information there's NO reason I know of as to why you should'nt be able to R&R adjustable push-rods in your engine w/o R&R'ing your rocker boxes.
I replaced my solid-stockers with Andrew's adjustable alum. push-rods (same aprox.cost as most out there) in my EVO engine..no sweat..according to Andrews instructions. So again I'm just asking where you got the idea that it can't be done that way..along with what you were told the problem with it would be ??

| | evo, I decided to go with the EV27 cam, anyway, I bought the SE rods and I can't get them in. They appear to be too long. Once they are in the rocker pocket the extend about three quarters of an inch to far past the bases, and I can't lift them up over. |

| | draggin..good choice with the EV-27..that's what I went with and I think you'll really like it. Something's wrong with your push-rod problem, though. Because they should screw/adjust in more than enough to go into place. Are you SURE you screwed them in ALL the way ?
Your previous thread/question here had to with correct camshaft end-play..which is specified in the Andrews install instructions. At the time, your question had me WONDERING if you were actually reading & following the instructions..and now I've got to ASK if you are,and understand them, with the push-rods.
If so..either you got the wrong push-rods..or there's something wrong with them.
If not..you're really going to have some serious issues when it comes to adjusting them out. Because there's bleed-up and bleed-down time required with your lifters..and the number of turns-out of the rods (after finger tight) varies from one brand to the other..due to thread size etc.
Sorry if I've unintentionally insulted your intelligence here..it's just something I need to know,as part of trying to help you the best I can

| | yeah, well on the cam measurements I found them in the manual and we got it figured out. The Andrews recommendations were the same .010 to .015. and that worked. The pushrods are Screamin Eagle and they come with an instruction sheet that refers you back to the service procedure for removal and replacement of OEM solid rods. No offense taken, I am gettin old and I do make mistakes. |

| | OK..with that answered..my suggestion is to return the SE rods and go with a set of Andrews that I know for sure will work for you and have much better instructions. Then I can walk you thru it IF necessary..noting it seems DUMB for HD to have a guy go thru the procedure required to R&R stock-solid rods..not really suprised though.
As for getting older !?! Oh,yeah I can relate to that one !!!
Be sure to keep me/us up to date on how things go with this.
