Default Replace top end gaskets

Alright, I'm no dummy, unless you talk to my ex. But I was wondering if it would be possible to change out the barrel lower and upper gaskets on my dyna wideglide without removing the engine from the frame. I have a very limited amount of shop space and time. I do know I need to remove the tank and all that stuff.

Welcome to the forum, Dyna. You betcha', you can pull the heads and jugs off without removing the engine from the frame. Get yourself a factory shop manual and go for it.

Thanks Mike, got one and will do. Kind of thought I could replace without removal but wanted to make sure as the summer is almost upon us and didn't want to have the bike all tied up. So a weekend should do it. Just wondering if I should replace the studs as I have a few miles (67000) on the bike. As far as I know this is the first time going through the motor. I bought the 94 in 97 so not sure what he did to it. Think it would be a good idea to replace the rings while I'm at it? Just to make sure. Think a light honing and stock rings.

I would do as you said, a light honing and standard size rings back in her as long as everything looks OK. Just be sure to take a clean scrub brush and soapy water and wash the grit from the stones out of the cylinder. It's not apparent to the naked eye, but it will wear the new rings out in no time. Re-oil the cylinders right away or rust will form before your eyes. The cylinder studs should be OK.
Take a good look at the lifters, now would be a good time to replace them rather than chance a failure.
