This is still a free country, and I am very glad that there are so many different compnies out there to provide many many different products for us to chose from. One guy likes a rock hard seat, and the guy next to him like a soft plush cushion seat.

What makes one right and the other wrong???

I like a firm mattress, the wifey like a soft one..... which one is correct??

oh I know hers is always the right one... no matter what it is,,, ha ha.. bad example.

I have an Ultra Classic with a soft seat,.... I like it

I have a BMC with a rock hard seat... I like it too.....

which one is right???

what ever you do....DONT BUY A LEPARA! unless of course you want a rock hard seat that hurts your a$$. The seat i bought is a le pera silouette. I really like that it is very thin both on sides and short on top. sit real low. but other than that seat sucks. went to the palm springs desert heat bike event this last weekend and bar industries was there. they are a company out of la. they removed cover from my seat and cut an inch and half out of driver seat and 2 inches out of back and replaced with memory foam. seat is very comfortable now and no hurting a$$. you can check them out on the web at Bar Industries Home Page or google them like i did today.

i had a gel pad put in on mine. almost the same operation as wideglidebill, only gelpad instead of foam. makes a huge difference, esp. on a hardtail. If you want to start "on the cheap" I recommend gel.

I've got a rock hard "Corbin" seat on my BMC. When I asked about why the seat was soo hard, and was there any other options... I wish I could have recorded the response....it went something like this..."You want a hard seat on that style of bike. If it was a soft seat, then you would sweat and that causes chafing... so this 'firm' seat is superior to the softer spongy ones. Even will last longer due to the fact that the leather does not move... on the soft seat, the leather flexes and moves and therefore will wear and tear eventually"
He he... I left it on there to 'give it a try' and maybe I got no feelings in that part of my anatomy, cuz it seems to be just fine for me....
Even after back surgery 10 years ago and not to mention the bike only has about 1-1/2" of suspension and I have ridden that thing as far as 500-600 miles in a day with no trouble. I have also ridden 600-700 miles a day on the 06 Ultra, with the big fat 4" thick soft leather spongy seat.....

It is good to have optins, and I am glad the memory foam worked for you... it makes me think I shall give it a try on one of my bikes...

I vote Mustang. My riding pardner and I both have identical Fatboys. He put on a Corbin, I put on a Mustang. First trip we went on, after just a few hours, he was whining and complaining about his sore butt, I was ready to go another 300 or 400 miles. Don't want to get into a dicsussion about butts, but the seats definitely were different.

well i gave the hard seat a try for a couple of months, maybe two thousand miles....in 30 mile intervals....drive thirty...rest butt....drive thirty...wife says same thing. memory foam has really helped and now like seat. i guess i was used to the moco. king queen seat, it was really plush...just too damn tall and too damn wide for my short a$$ legs. hard seat with little butt don't work, not enough padding in my butt i guess,...yeah, i know..we weren't gonna talk difference in butts...someone had to do it...
I have never tried the corbin or mustang, no need to now though.

I too own a Corbin. It seems a lot harder than my old seat but the way it's dished out it works for me. Corbin goes on and on about how they don't like the gels over their foam products. They say the gel does not offer as much support in uh,mm critical areas. Being only 5'7" tall, the deeper dish allows me get my size 7s flat on the ground. Even though Sturgis is only 450 miles from here, that will tell me if Corbin can do the job. I could ride all day with my other seat.

Not sure about mustang and other higher end seats but Corbin will also rebuild their seats to factory new condition. Of course they want some bucks to do that.
