Wink 93 Ultra Seat Recommdation??

I have a Saddleman low pro that came on the bike when I bought it and it looks TIGHT! But, my ass is killin me after 30 miles (let alone the 650 I did last year...um, OUCH!). Currently I have the tour pack/rack off (stock seat too)and would like to keep them off till the next big trip so I need to find a seat that looks good but isn't a killer.

A friend is willing to give me his old seat off his 98 Road King but it will take some modifying to make it work. I wanted to see if anyone had some good recommendations for aftermarket seats as well as a stock HD seat that matches up with min modifications that doesn't attach to the rack (as my stock seat does). Saddleman attaches about mid rear fender + inch or two back.

Thanx
JC

Bit both: too hard and fit. Ive ridden my friends 98 RK with the stock seat (he loves it) and it seemed to fit me but that was only over 10 miles (he as 16 in apes and its awkward for me to give it a real ride over distance). Will talk to him about letting me take it for a longer ride to see if I like it.

The pain is mostly from the width of the seat. I need it a bit wider for the sweet spot on the butt. My older *ahem* rice bikes never gave me the same fits. And the limited amout of time ive spent on other Ultra's the issue never came up.

Ive thought of the gel and if I got no/weak info to go on that would be my next move. But, it doesn't address the width too much.

Will check back later..nice out, time to ride
JC

PS thanx for the quick input. I really appricate it!!

Opps sorry, after reading your first post, realized it was a real thin seat, and would probably not be to easy to reshape it, so I deleted the post, not knowing you had already posted to it, so here is what that post said.
“Where does the seat that you have hurt you, is it too hard, not fit your butt. Have you thought about having the pad re-shaped?”
Now to answerer you new post, how about going back to the stock seat, they are pretty easy to pick up on e-bay, I have bought several.
That or the Mustang seat is pretty comfortable.

I've got 2 Mustang seats, the one on the 85 is superb, the one on the 07 is only pretty darn good, but now I'm talkin out of my butt, meaning everyone has different requirements in the nether regions, which I used to think that was a place in Holland. The stock EG seat was good for about half a day before pain set in but with a Mustang you have choices of solo chairs, or 2 up that interchange quickly, independant of the Tourpak. On the Mustang.com website a rider can check out the catalog and fitment specs to see what might be appealing.

Another vote for Mustang. I like the one on my old Shovel so well that I put one on the Ultra too.

My stock seat mounts to the rack system and I wasn't sure if I could use it as the saddleman mounts to the fender. Will see if a spacer and longer allen will fit the bill. I was more wondering if there was a stock HD seat that would match up to the mount on the fender and not the rack. That is, unless it has an aftermarket fender and the previous owner failed to tell me. Who know hehe.

Ive also heard good stuff bout the mustang's. Will see what I can do on the cheap first then throw down some coin.

On a side note, did a demo ride today (just for fun I have no coin) and road a street bob (with the twin headlights) that had a 103 big bore kit, stage 2 and a remapped computer. DAMN!!!! Took off hard and I think the front tire was really close to lifting. Scared the crap out of me! Well....sumday hehe

JC

as always, thanx for input. I really do appriceat the time people take to help lil ole me out!!!

Hi Jack

Does "looks tight" means that it looks great or small or what..

My contribution is only valid if it fits into two categories..
1-- If you really dig your seat and would keep it if it wasn't for the Butt pain..
2-- And if your seat Pan angles down as in "skirts" in the same area where it needs to be wider.. And of course if you feel you wanna do a wee bit of work..

I've made a few seats wider and narrower doing this--
Gently remove the fasteners that hold on the seat cover.. Usually they are riveted..
Then peel away the foam padding leaving the bare metal seat Pan..
Now, bend up the "skirts", in whatever way you chose, they're tough,, to as flat as you rekon they need to be.. If a another inch or so is needed you can weld it on,,,, heck bud,, it's just mild steel, make it do what you want..
Since everything you do will be covered back up I never worry about scratches etc..
When it's as good as you think you can make it simply replace the padding and add some for the extra width and some extra comfort, then pull and re-fasten the covering..

Since it's only been made wider there are no fitment issues that weren't there already..
Have a ball

Hey Tommy-- You crack me up bud,,,,,, Holland,,, jeeeze

Just don't go Corbin. They suck.

I have put Mustang seats on a few bikes. One on the wife's sporty in 2007 and on the BIL's VTX.

Mustang on the right

If its "nothing but the best" then why are you using a rock hard piece of **** corbin?

Mustang makes the best main stream aftermarket seats.
