Question Mikuni HSR42 with HD stage 1 kit

Is the Mikuni intake face surface, which mates with the filter mounting plate, in the same plane relative to the HD CV carb. I lost one of the head breather mounting spacer washers during re-installation while tuning. and the thickness of the washers (6x) shown for the Harley stage 1 kit are not like the one I lost. I'm thinking maybe the Mikuni came with these thicker 2nd spacers, if the carb is indeed different in the face to intake dimension. Any Mikuni users know what I'm talking about?

Hi Moff

We now run only Miks..
However I have never mounted an OEM HD air cleaner to any of them..
BUT---
Spacers are mearly spacers and are pretty much a general, generic part that can be adapted to & from almost any use.. Heck I use washers in place of "factory" spacers quite often..

An example--On our 120" & 127" motors I use S&S Head-Breather Air Cleaner mounts and spacers along with a washer or two,, to mount our After-market Air Cleaners to our Mikuni carbs..

So you see, Absolute "correct" parts are often Not necessary,,,, use whatever will do the job..

I hope I addressed your question well enough..

Thanks Frisco, I agree. If the spacer washers (6x) I'll be getting from Harley next week result in an unsuitable mounting fitment, I'll replace one on each head with a more proper thickness (to be determined) spacer.
