Default 91 heritage electrical prolem

Hi everyone I am new to the forum though have been visiting as a guest and have had many questions answered by checking for posts of similar problems for about 6 months now. My boyfriend and I have a 91 Heritage with 1340 evo and until this las winter it was totally stock.she has almost 50,000 miles on her so we brought her in the house and stripped her down to the cases this winter this is what we have done : new cam and cam bearing, new SE heads and performance head and base gaskets, new kns air filter I believe it is stage II, replaced swingarm bar and bushings, changed to single fire coil and daytona twin tec ignition (Loving that) added starter boost, replaced circuit breakers, new speedo with tach, adjustable push rods new crank vent as well as "super krank vent" also added head vents internal filter type not the tubed variety. We just returned from 1900 mile vacation ride covering 5 states and she is definitely better than brand new then head light started to turn off and on (sometimes) then the other day turned ignition switch and there was no power no dash lights no power to starter or lights nothing have several manuals or books about bike none of them have wiring schematic any suggestions I cant stand losing these days of nice weather for riding but we have had no luck tracing. checked battery its connections and ground and replaced ciruit breakers under dash.

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. If you get a factory service manual from Harley it will have a schematic, continue to trace down the wiring. There is either a breaker besides the ones in the dash giving trouble or a connector loose or corroded. Hope you and your boy friend are soon back in the wind on that fine looking bike. Ride safe and GOD bless, Sincerely: Shovelmike.

I agree with Shovelmike, you need a HD manual. I have a 94 FLSTC and about 4 years ago I had to remove the dash and change the ignition switch. When I screwed the wires to the back of the switch one of the connectors was sticking out and about 4 or 5 days later shorted. You might start checking at the switch and work back from there with a meter to find your short. It could also be the switch itself, they do wear out.

Welcome to the forum from California.
I love the part where you brung the bike in the house to fix it, that is too cool.
Electrical is oneof my weak points, so I will just say hello, welcome and let the more knowledgable ones arrive here and lend a hand.

Welcome aboard.

All good suggestions. Usually when something goes wrong, it's related the work you just did. Sounds like you had the dash apart, and tanks off, so go back and double check your work.

Welcome aboard.
Electrical stuff is one of those things I've got to go to the shop manual for almost everytime...other than replacing a burned out bulb. But like others have said here...I always check first around what was worked on last...mech OR elec.

Thank you all for your welcome and your suggestions wanted to give update it seems the engine kill switch was bad however there is still a problem we have power to the switch but still nothing coming out havent been able to get a service manual Harley didnt have one here so will have to order it (sadness) that means another 7 to 10 days without riding,.
while we wait am testing every connection and cleaning up all the contacts if anyone has a suggestion for direction to work from/to otherwise all I can think of is to run from switch or from battery to end of harness without wire schematic not even sure which wires should be hot Thanks again
