Hi Vita

There is absolutely Nothing Magical about spark Plugs,, all they do is jump a spark----ONE Single Spark..
Just in case you might fall for the crap about Split-fires or some such Balderdash---- the spark travels the path of Least resistance and only jumps to ONE of the 2 or 3 or 7 electrodes.. Ummm, just throwing that in..

I happen to use Champ N12YC or RN12YC,,, everyone has their fav..

All plugs work almost exactly the same with some diff's for special reasons..
Here, read about some of the diff's..

Yup, nothing magical about spark plugs, they only have one job to do, and that's all they do. Platinum, Iridium, spit-fire---- all pretty much just gimmicks. Put in the stock HD plugs, but since they're made by Champion anyway, might as well go with the Champions as mentioned.
Look in your Service Manual--- I think you'll see a recommendation to change them every 10,000 miles. I change mine once a year, and that seems to cover it.

The Iridium are a better plug but might throw a check engine light in the newer Harleys as I have been told by my dealer. I was running them in my 2007 FXDL and was lucky I think as no check engine light. They run much better and start better, BUT in time the bike would not want to idle some times and stall, then it got to the point would not idle at all after driving. If I were to shut the bike off and restart it, it would idle again. This all took some time before the bike started all this, some 10,000 KM's or so. I just might run them again but change them sooner before the bad idle shows up. The Iridium make more power in a Harley as seen on the Amsoil web. Champion use to make them for Harley but now will be NGK making them as Champion lost the contract for what ever reason, as I under stand. The spit-fire plugs are crap as some time ago [years]there was a write-up in a mag called I believe Big Twin Mag., and they tested them and found that they LOST power with them installed, 1 HP or more. Had them in a Harley before and it ran like crap. I not would run them in anything ,even if you gave to me. Have a good day now eh and ride safe eh.

Hi Diesel2

Your post is as informative as a Dream Sequence in a Federico Fellini movie..

You state that Iridium Plugs are better and you offer Second-Hand info to prove your point..

"...as I have been told by my dealer. "
Supply info from an Amsoil website..
State that Champion lost a contract "for what ever reason, as I under stand."

Strangrly enough,, your own Hands-On experience Does Not back your claim that they are better.. Heck you started having probs after only 6,200 miles,, BUT you still might get them again........!!!! (yeah, I might buy that gas that makes my motor run crappy again too)

Oh yeah--- Iridium is a natural Element, number 77 on the periodic Table and I'm pretty sure NO company can TradeMark it or Patent it so there is No need for a contract to be granted OR taken away-------anybody can make spark plug electrodes outa it..

Spark plugs ONLY do basically 3 things
They provide the gap that coil voltage has to arc/spark across...they retain or dissipate combustion chamber heat to the cyl.head depending on the size/dimensions of their insulators...and they plug the various sized holes (width/depth) in cyl. heads that would otherwise just release cylinder compression......duh !!!

They do NOT generate any heat/energy. They JUST cause a spark to happen...and they ALL do it in virtually the SAME way.

Ever wonder why "RACERS" run a particular brand ??
Simple...a lot depends on who's willing to pay them what to put their decals on the car, bike, boat, etc being raced...little if anything else overall...

BTW the correct Champion plug for relatively stock Evos woud be the RN12YC noting the R designates resistor type needed for Electronic ignitions and fuel injection...and can be cross indexed at your local auto supply for closely equivalent different brands.

They work good for plugging vacuum lines and fuel lines too!!!!

Used with a wrist rocket you can take out a car window no problem!!!

Last but not least, they make great fishing weights for ocean fishin'...

They also keep the grandkids pacified when they are wanting to grab your sockets.

So now I have to put the periodical table of elements beside my computer just to keep up with this chit. It never ends.

Get me a beer Edith.
