Default what does 2-1,2-2, and true duals mean?

I apologize for a stupid question, but I am new to this Forum. I have seen exhaust systems referred to as 2-1, 2-2, and true duals. What exactly is the difference, and which would be the preferred system for my '07 Electra Glide Classic if I am only installing Rush slip ons with a HD race tuner?
I am looking for the better Harley sound, not so much an increase in performance.

Thanks

Two headpipes into one muffler, Two head pipes into two mufflers, Two headpipes into two mufflers no cross-over pipe.

True duals are usually on baggers only (FLH/FLT). You have one muffler on each side of the rear tire. The front cylinder exhaust runs down the right side of the bike. The rear cylinder exhaust crosses over to the left side of the bike behind the cylinder and above the primary housing, then drops down behind the outer primary housing and under the left saddle bag. Unlike the stock bagger "dual exhaust", a true dual has no cleverly concealed crossover connecting the front and rear cylinder headpipes (which by the way is precisely where the stock "duals" love to crack). True duals will give the cylinders a more matched back pressure and better flow/ scavenging effect resulting in improved performance and gas mileage. Bassani has developed a wierd looking (the rear pipe) true dual system that performs better that any other true dual system out there (THIER claim, not mine!).
If you see a Bassani system, it maked sense.

Other than that 2 cents from me, myt evo has you covered.
