Default glowing red exhaust

I started my 05 fuel injected road king the other day and after 5 minutes the left rear pipe was glowing red. The exhaust has no mouse nests in it, plugs looked fine and it idles fine, but I don't want to ride it just in case. my dealership wants me to put in a screamin eagle pro efi race tuner and run it through the dyno at the tune of around 7 bills. Has any one had there rear pipe glowing red, or have any input to if this is normal or not? Thanks

Hi bud
This is Not normal..
Is this the first time it's done this..? If yes, some new condition like an intake leak may have just developed..
When you say the plugs look fine do you mean they are very white AND look the same (almost identical)..

They prob want you to come in to fatten up your mixture.. All that heat is prob due to a very lean condition and maybe even timing..
Being that it's an EFI, it's all stuff that you cannot do unless you have access to the programs to re-program the EFI..

It'll prob run better after they get done with it but jeeeze, you shouldn't have to have it done in the first place..

Hey, If you have upgraded your air filter or exhaust this is quite likley a lean condition with the FI, (very tempermental) did I say mental.
Have you changed the exhaust or air filter?
All harleys run lean from the factory, (in my opinion) to meet epa rules. Even a high flow air filter could cause this (the rear cylinder is always leaner).
I think any harley should add a fueler or upgrade the ecm (stage 1 flash), even if you have left it stock (a fueler would be best).
If you are planning or have changed exhaust, air filter, etc.. I would suggest a fueler, (dobeck, I like my dobeck, harley fueler, V & H, etc..)
If you plan more upgrades (cams, pistons, etc) get a harley race tuner, zippers thundermax (my recommendation), etc...
All fuel injected harleys need more fuel, wish it was as easy as changing jets,
but after the first outlay of cash for the fueler or tuner we can adjust the fuel injection very subtle, to your driving style,
don't have to worry about elev changes, humidity, etc.. either.
While I'm on the subject, I'm building a bobber with a 45 or 46 mikuni (whatever, set from the facyory for initial start-up), would much rather
have FI, anybody used the Pegasus system, looks nice, but already went out on a limb with the Ultima motor, (heard its good) and don't want to press my luck, (not the luckiest bastard, but can't complain) if you have used it let me know what you think, would lik to change to FI for throttle response, tunability (is that a word), etc, plan on beating up on the rice burners at the local 1/8 track (these guys all run ricers with stretched frames, etc, some have nitros, still think with my Torque and HP to weight ratio I should be fast)?

Thanks,
Tony
Keep the shiny side up, (I'm still trying after lots of road rash, (damn gravel and dirt bikes)

welcome to the forum also, When I'm ready I'll probably get a roadking, (still not grown up).
