Default Heat wrap

I recently purchased heat wrap for my pipe by my leg (w/o heat sheild) and the manufaturer instructions recomended a spray of their sealer after instalation. Is the spray necisary or can I go with out. any suggestions would be helpful

The manufacturer probably knows best, but I don't it'll kill anything if you don't use the sealer. One hint: When putting the wrap on, soak it in water a bit. It'll keep the dust down and give you a tighter wrap when it dries.

I recently wrapped my pipes and love the looks. Not sure what the sealer does for it. I will say there is a lot more "felt heat" coming from the pipe under my leg than when the heat sheilds were on. I can't imagine any sealer holding up to this much heat.

I wonder if the sealer holds the fiberglass together? That stuff can itch ya to death...

I've wrapped pipes before, but didn't use a sealer. If it's for water and dust, I guess I might use it. Now I have never seen an issue by not using a sealant either.

Ok, I wraped, but no sealer. Have no problems, and it helped block the heat alot. and looks tittss. The only thing I notice is when wet it is like a stanley steamer. the sealer may have helped with that, but its something I can live with.
