Default New HD Exhaust Style for 2009

Harley redesigned the entire frame and chassis for the 2009 Touring FL models. Tough to see the difference in the frame, but the new exhaust system stands out clearly.

Photos and details in the new September issue of American Iron Magazine.

What's the difference in the new exhaust system for 2009?

In looking at the picture in AIM does the crossover happen under the frame? I could tell by the picture...if this is the case - isn't there a chance of it getting damamged????

Question

Tex:
If your bike takes a hit down there I'd think a crumby (?) cross-over pipe would be the LEAST of your worries...don't you !!

You took the words right out of my mouth! If you noticed the Californication bikes and the HDI's have cats in that chamber on the exhaust system. Guess what's going to happen next year? Yup!

Looking at that setup seems to me left side muffler is total waste, vanity only, I think I'de be inclined to cap off the crossover and remove the left muffler and use as a spare. 2-1 exhaust at no additional cost. At least it fixes the problem of the y-pipe cracking up by the head which was fairly common after time. I may have to dig deep this fall and by me one. BOtz

John 1:14

It is the duty of nations, as well as of men, to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins and transgressions, in humble sorrow, yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy and pardon; and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the LORD.

Looks like the rear header is re-reouted on the right side of the bike.
