Default Exhaust Recommendations

First, may you all have a happy New Year.

Now the question, which exhaust will give me the flow I need and be quiet? How about Screaming Eagle slip on's? What kind of flow do the stock mufflers have?

I'm working on my winter project; Andrews 21G cam, Thundermax with auto tune, K&N air filter. Looking for economy and reliability.

I have a 2003 Ultra Classic, FI bike.

Hey Sin

Stock muffs that I've played with don't have very good flow..
You should prob try those SE muffs, I bet they'll be better than your OEM..

Otherwise there are multitudes of good slip-on muffs.. Cycle Shack, KhromeWorks, (I think the KW's are very good) etc etc..

Remember, there is Nothing majical about anybodys headers,, headers are headers..
Length can be cut down to suit then slip-on the muffs..
However they should always be matched length..

I personally have had better results with 1.75" OD headers..

Project time means experiment time..

Hi Sin,
My baby brother and I both have KhromeWorks HP 100 slip ons and they sound and perform good from every angle. They can be quiet when putting about the hood of neighbors or they can wake up people you don't like when you want to. The best of both worlds.

Thanks for the input Frisco and Tommyglide.

Some one said to look at the S&S slip ons.

Had another person swear that the stock mufflers on the 08 models are more open. He swears that the exhaust noise in louder on 08's than earlier years???

Maybe a set of Kerkers with the 2 inch Mikuni baffles?
Put the fishtail end caps on them and they quieten right down.

When I bought my sportster back in 05, I got a $1000 gift card from the stealer and one of the things I used it for was a set of the S/E slip ons. I really like the tone and with the high flow air filter you will notice the difference

Very happy with the sound and power from the SE II's I slipped onto my carbed 03. If I'm in a big crowd |I have to reah down to feel the side of the engine to be sure its runing in all that open pipe noise. When I open it up to pass though it howls like a true racer. Just loud enough in bumper to bumper traffic too, a little throttle blip reminds them I'm there and the tail gaters usually back off a bit.

I first had cycle shack slip ons, that I liked then bought rinehart full exhaust. What a difference in low end torque and sound. I like my rineharts.
