Default 09 Screamin' Eagle Mufflers

Friend just brought me hi 09 Screamin' Eagle Road Glide - nice looking bike...but sound like a sewing machine! Harley book lists slip-ons for touring - but says EXCEPT Screamin Eagle. Anyone know why? Need to put mufflers on this thing - 08-09 should physically fit...what's the deal? Thanks, 50s Boy

Kaliforgnia doesn't want anybody to modify anything anymore and HD is just marching to that band..
Noise restrictions and Pinko-Commie EPA restrictions mandate no mods..

Exhaust is one of those things that need to be experimented with cuz there is no definate answer,, except that Straights aren't good..

Your bud can prob find some swap-meet muffs or used from a shop and start running and trying them out till he gets the best power and noise..

Some things just take experimenting and a wee money..

I have a set of the 50 state SE street legal slip on's on the wife's Nightster and they sounded great for a no map adjustment pipe. Her stock mufflers made it sound like a honda.

So I ordered the same thing for my 09 UC. Now the stock UC pipes weren't as quiet as the nights were but still not loud enough. Got them installed and wasn't impressed with the "added" sound. They got a bit louder but not much. I will leave it for now, being I plan on doing some multi state runs the only thing louder then these pipes will do is make me turn the radio up more.

Maybe next year if I do a stage 1 kit...

Don't know, but if you want louder best to go with an aftermarket exhaust or set of mufflers. You were able to buy SE race mufflers up until 2-3 years ago but HD stopped selling them.

I had loud on the chop... now I'm looking for function and comfort. But may need more sound later if I get bored

my vision/design with a great fab guy's input and skills

1 7/8" stainless flanges and 3" of stainless pipe
2" the rest of the way..wide open on a 117CI S&S with a 600 cam
All aimed right at anything on the right side
