Finally all is good!!! Now note this guys. After all we have discussed on this issue. You must go get the August 2007 Issue of American Iron Magazine, as it has on pg 174, how to stop the decel pop which will not hurt the bike, but can be corrected with a Power Commander (they even have a pic of the PC in this article). Almost makes me think they were watching this chat!!!! Thanks for all your advice. Bike is now doing great after I spent about 1.5 hours toying with setting the Power Commander for my bike.

Default Rineharts - Power Commander

You'll find the investment wurth while as you make changes in years to come.
And if you sell it - take it off and put it on your next bike.

If you have Stock ECU and a Air Cleaner (K&N, Screamin' Eagle, etc.) I have found MAP # 807-124 to work real well thru 06 models.

They told you to check for leaks, cause cold air getting sucked in the system will create a backfire too...so they weren't strokin ya.

You can call or e-mail Power Commander and they are great a helping out - just have your serial number ready for them. Good luck and Ride Safe!

I can't tell you about the Dynojet PC but others here can...

I was thinking about the un-spent gasses, I wouldn't think it is unburned gas from the previous burn, my thinking is that the new system is scavenging sooo well that it is pulling out fresh INTAKE gas along with exhaust during overlap... A total off-the-top-of-my-head theory...
I might tend to agree with the above.....There are several "tuners" that will do the job - which - in my humble opinion is the way you are going to have to go... If you did the research that you said you did - you would have realized that you might have to put a "tuner" on the EFI system.... it is not a money pit but I think you didn't look at it close enough.
Being familiar with the dealers in the DFW area - I would do some asking around who the best dyno independent guy is and have him map it for you. Rucker is in Fort Worth.......

If you are sure you have no exhaust leak at the heads, then do this. Open your map on a laptop and just richen the mixture at 0% throttle opening above idle to about 3500 RPM by 5% at each speed point (1250, 1500, etc right up to 3500 or so). Do this and try it - should cure the pop. I have done this on my bikes and it works like a charm. No need to mod any other part of the map. If it still occurs, check to be sure the throttle zero point is set in the PC following Dynojets procedure.

Hey, I got a question. I have a 03 Road King. It has Rush slip ons, a PC, an Andrews 26G cam and, i believe the opened up air breather, do not know what kind as I didn't have the work done. Since having the cam changed I have the decel pop. the mechanic spent several hours on it, no dyno time, and it hasn't helped it. I know the mufflers have large baffels and wondered if changing to smaller ones would possibly improve the back pressure thereby alieviating the popping? Actually it was popping some before I changed the cam, but I had hoped that the PC would change things.

Just thought I would add that the mechanic checked the mufflers for any leaks.

The mechanic should know what I posted yesterday. If you have a PC, just richen the 0% throttle points above idle speed to 3500-4000 RPM. The richer mixture during closed throttle decel will stop the pop. Easy to do on the laptop and download it to the PC module.

Sent an e-mail to rush and they suggested switching from the 2 1/2" baffle out for a 2" as they have problems with the larger baffle. Having it done today will let you know how it turns out.

As promised, I installed the smaller baffles on my RK. The popping was worse than ever. After talking to a tech at Dyna I adjusted the 0 column to the settings he suggested 15 or 25 from 2500 to redline. I tried numbers in between and even used the 5 suggested in this forum. So far I still have the popping, but the 15 seems to be the best of the bunch, but not the way it should be. I have every issue of AI except the August issue witht he article mentioned above. it would be great if AIM would publish that on this site. Any suggestions or maps available would be appreciated too. I have an 88" with rush slip on, 2" baffles, SE aircleaner and Andrews 26G cam. Thanks, Dennis
