My next major project is to get a 1931 Harley-Davidson V sidevalve motorcycle running after more than 20 years of sitting neglected in a warehouse. Then I hope to take it to the Maxton Mile in October to set Land Speed Record there in its class.
Like the 1948 Panhead before this bike, I will take it to Dale Walksler at Wheels Through Time museum
Wheels Through Time - Home to get it sorted out and running. Then we will work together to race prep it.
I am looking for any information or advice peple might have in how to build the engine for maximum top speed without messing up the bike or reducing the legendary longevity of these old Harley motorcycles.
I am looking for advice ad/or parts sources for better wheels (stock ws 19 inch, currently 16 inch), heads (prefer higher compression aluminum), manifold, carb and cam.
We will be following this on-line at the Classic American Iron magazine web site
Classic American Iron and in in print in American Iron Magazine.
All leads and help are greatly appreciated.
