Default Servicars

Anyone here other then Jim Babchak into old Harley servicars? They were 45 ci flathead Harley trikes.

Funny how people of a "certain age" still associate them with meter maids or Good Humor ice cream vendors. Me, I prefer the ice cream to a parking ticket.

Yeah, I used to ride a Servi - a lot of fun and always plenty of room to store stuff in the huge back compartment.

Mine was an older kicker/handshifter - got a lot of attention everywhere I rode that old girl. Don't remember the year - it was a long time ago.

Also fun to carry a bunch of people on the back. We used to stack up a half dozen at a time on the back. A bit tough on the small engine on the hills but ok on the flats.

Biggest problem I had with my Servi was that it took up a lot of garage space and didn't have enough power to take it on the highway.

What are you missing?

Where are you located?

Are you aware of the 45 parts company near Albany, NY?

Are you a member of AMCA yet? (highly recommended).

Default 62 Servicar

A friend had a 62 Servicar. We rode it around a bit, slow but fun. When he decided to sell it I tried unsuccessfully to get the wife to let me get it for her. She's still kicking herself.

Hey Buzz!

There is a nice 56 servi car riding around Stamford, CT. If you spot it, pull me over and take a look. It features some mild custom touches; taillights, rear bumper and speedometer from a 35 Ford, "ratfink" hand tooled seat by Duane Ballard and some other hot rod touches.

Here is a pic taken just before I finished it off. It now has spider caps and fuzzy dice hanging from the tow bar. I also added a Linkert!

I love 'em, but havn't ridden one. Looks like fun, for sure. 47knuck and ratfink, those look great.

Got a cool story, though. A bud I ride with was in one of the country stores in our area one morning, and a bunch of old coots were in there having coffee or just runnin their mouths. Eventually, the conversation got around to motorcycles. My bud starts talkin about servicars. One of the old farmers says "I have one on the farm". So, my buddy starts to work on him about sellling it. They come to an agreement of 1500 bucks. Farmer says
" You want to ride it?" So they go to the farm, fire it up, and proceed to take turns riding it thru the field. And they rode for quite a while. Once they realize they have jobs, my bud says sure, I'll be back tonight with the cash. He goes back to the farm, cash, truck and trailer, and the farmer says "I'm real sorry, but after the fun we had on it this morning, I just can't let it go! "

My bud won't admit to it, but I think he and the farmer spend a good amount of time together now... Nor will he tell me where it's at...

94flhtcu, thats a good story. Funny how a little spark can ignite a firestorm. Romance can work that way too. After 36 years with the same woman, I still get sparked now and again.
